This policy explains what personal data RusBridge (the organisation named at the top of this page) collects through this website, why we collect it and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can.
If you have a question about your data, write to us at info@rusbridge.org.
What we collect through our forms
The website has three forms. Fields marked as optional can stay empty.
Start your journey. You tell us about your plans, and we reply by email. The form asks for:
- your full name and email address
- your WhatsApp or phone number (optional)
- your country of residence
- what you plan to do: study, visit, live in Russia or learn Russian
- when you want to start
- a message in your own words (optional)
Course registration. You sign up for one of our Russian courses. The form asks for your full name, email address, WhatsApp or phone number (optional), country, the course you choose, your current level of Russian and a message (optional).
Both of these forms end with a consent checkbox. By ticking it, you agree that we use your details to contact you about your request.
Newsletter. You give us only your email address.
Each form also sends the language of the page you used, so we know which language to reply in. The forms include a hidden anti-spam field. People do not see it or fill it in, and it helps us block automated spam.
Why we use your data
We use your details only to:
- answer your request and suggest next steps
- organise your course registration
- send you the newsletter, if you subscribed
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Just reply to any newsletter or write to info@rusbridge.org.
Under [to confirm: applicable data protection law], we rely on two legal bases:
- Your consent, which you give when you tick the box on a form or subscribe to the newsletter.
- Steps you ask us to take: when you register for a course, we need your details to organise it.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
Who handles your data for us
This is a static website hosted by Netlify, Inc., a company based in the United States.
- Hosting. Netlify delivers the pages to your browser. Like any web host, it processes technical data, such as your IP address, in its server logs to keep the site secure and deliver it.
- Forms. When you send a form, the Netlify Forms service receives and stores your message. Netlify then sends an email notification with your message to the RusBridge team mailbox, so we can answer you.
Netlify handles this data under its own privacy policy.
Data processed outside your country
Because Netlify is based in the United States, your data may be processed outside the country where you live. This applies to the pages you visit and to the messages you send through our forms.
Cookies and storage in your browser
We use one cookie and your browser’s local storage, only to remember your choices.
| What | What it remembers | How long |
|---|---|---|
Cookie nf_lang |
The language you picked, so the site opens in that language next time | One year |
| Local storage | The language you picked, the country you chose on the home page and the items you ticked on checklists | Until you clear it |
Local storage stays on your device. It is never sent to us.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and there are no third-party trackers on this site. Fonts and icons are served from our own website, not from outside services.
You can delete the cookie and the local storage in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work, but it will forget your choices.
How long we keep your data
We keep the messages you send through our forms only as long as we need them to help you: to answer your request, organise your course and follow up with you. After that, we delete them.
- Form messages: [to confirm: how long we keep form messages].
- Newsletter: we keep your email address until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: Netlify keeps its technical logs according to its own rules.
Your rights
At any time, you have the right to:
- access the data we hold about you
- correct data that is wrong or out of date
- have your data deleted
- withdraw your consent, for example to stop receiving the newsletter
- object to how we use your data
To do this, write to info@rusbridge.org. If you can, write from the email address you used in the form, so we can find your details quickly.
If you think we have not handled your data properly, you can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Children
Our forms are meant for people who can give their consent themselves. If you are a parent or guardian, you can write to us on behalf of your child.
Links to other websites
Our pages link to other websites, such as official portals, university websites and Telegram. When you open them, their own privacy policies apply, not this one.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
